Scott has made many contributions to the integration of teaching and scholarship during his service to the University. He is Director of the Environmental Verification and Analysis Center (EVAC). Under his leadership, the Oklahoma Wind Power Initiative was recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy as the best program of this type in the United States. He is currently teaching a Dream Course on Sustainability in the Southern Plains, and is pursuing other initiatives involving the integration of research and teaching on sustainability in Oklahoma and nearby states. Dr. Sakakibara's dissertation was titled "Cetaceousness and Global Warming Among the IƱupiat of Arctic Alaska," and was written under the supervision of Dr. Robert Rundstrom. Chie has also accepted a two-year post-doctoral position with the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York, beginning September 1, 2008. Matthew's poster was entitled "Mapping with Recreational Grade GPS." The purpose of his poster was to outline some considerations for using recreational grade global positioning systems (GPS) to acquire location and mapping data effectively, using a case study of Mount Scott in the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.
